Rich media and interaction were key requirements for the WPFD 2010 website. This annual UNESCO event is being hosted at the University of Queensland in May and the website needs to handle video streaming, audio-visual storytelling and social media as well as static information about the conference and venue.
The content strategy involves encouraging user input through a poll and forum and using Twitter to update followers on developments. Launch content consists mostly of conference details but in the lead up to the event multimedia stories surrounding press freedom are planned. During the conference, presentations will be streamed live through the site.
The site was developed on a Joomla platform. Commission to launch was four weeks.
